Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit charge man with drug and firearms offences

The Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has charged a man with drug and firearms offences in Cole Harbour.

On May 19, 2022, as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, Halifax District RCMP SCEU officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle on Pleasant St. in Dartmouth and safely arrested a 19-year-old Cole Harbour man. During the arrest and subsequent search of the man’s vehicle, SCEU officers seized a loaded handgun, pills and cash. The man was transported to cells where he was held overnight.

SCEU officers then executed a search warrant at a home on Cole Harbour Rd. in Cole Harbour as part of this investigation. During the search, SCEU officers located and seized ammunition and cash.

Brendan Anthony MacKinnon, 19, of Cole Harbour, has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking;
  • Careless Use of a Firearm;
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm;
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;
  • Carrying a concealed weapon;
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm;
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing It’s Possession is Unauthorized;
  • Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle;
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition;
  • Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order;
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime.

MacKinnon will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.

The investigation is ongoing.
