MacKinnon was arrested last evening without further incident. More information will be provided when available.

We continue our search for MacKinnon using a significant number of resources, including a helicopter and airplane.
Due to cold weather, there is concern for MacKinnon’s safety.
We have been in touch with residents & understand their need to attend appointments, get groceries, etc. but ask that they minimize the time outside their homes as much as possible.

The RCMP remains in #MeatCove as the search for Perry MacKinnon continues.

UPDATE 9:32 a.m. January 19:
RCMP continue their search for Perry MacKinnon. This involves a significant number of RCMP resources, including a helicopter.
Overnight, RCMP used helicopters with FLIR (Forward Looking InfraRed) and these efforts will continue today. We believe that MacKinnon is still in the area and we continue to ask residents of Meat Cove to remain inside and await updates from police.
If MacKinnon is spotted, do not approach and call 911.

Via RCMP: Update – UPDATE, 7:35 p.m.
The RCMP continues its search in Meat Cove for Perry MacKinnon. We ask residents of the area to remain indoors and await further updates.

There is currently a large RCMP presence in Meat Cove, Cape Breton.
Perry MacKinnon, who is 34 years old, is wanted on multiple warrants and has fled with a firearm into a wooded area of Meat Cove. MacKinnon was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket and blue pants. If seen, do not approach and call 911.
Residents of Meat Cove and the surrounding area are asked to remain inside and await updates.
An emergency alert will be issued for the area.
