Weekly Traffic Advisories (Oct 2)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Bedford Bypass

A repaving and guardrail project is taking place on the Bedford Bypass westbound lanes, from the exit to Dartmouth Road to the overpass near the intersection of Highway 101.

Repairs will also be carried out to the structures over Memory Lane from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should expect delays.

The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Oct. 23.



HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road in Meaghers Grant, will be closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.



HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer 2021.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall 2021.

Gottingen Street – Traffic Delay

Friday, Oct. 9, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays near 2513 Gottingen Street on Monday, Oct. 12.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Connaught Avenue and Chebucto Road – Traffic Delay

Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays at the intersection of Connaught Avenue and Chebucto Road, from Thursday, Oct. 8 until Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. on Thursday until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, relining sewer pipes. Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.

Bissett Road – Road Construction

Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Bissett Road, between Cole Harbour Heritage Park and 1051 Bissett Road, on Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10.

Crews will be on site from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Main Road – Road Construction

Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Main Road, between Hines and Cow Bay roads, on Friday, Oct. 9.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to noon.​ Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.

Forest Hills Parkway – Nighttime​ Road Construction

Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020​ (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that nighttime road construction will take place on Forest Hills Parkway, between Chameau Crescent and Cole Harbour Road, from Sunday, Oct. 11 to Sunday, Oct. 25.​

Crews will be onsite from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. each day.​ The contractor for this project has been granted a Noise By-law exemption to complete this work.

Lane drops, with occasional stop-and-go traffic, will be maintained while work is underway.

Windmill Road – Traffic Delay

Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on Windmill Road, near Jamieson Street, on Thursday, Oct. 8.

Crews will be on site from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. One lane of traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Cunard Street – Road Closure

Friday, Oct. 2, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Cunard Street, between Robie and Moran streets, will be closed on Tuesday, Oct. 6 and Wednesday, Oct. 7 Thursday, Oct. 8.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Marked detours will be in place while work is underway. Pedestrian traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.​

During these closures, Halifax Transit will have detours in place for some bus routes.​ Information related to the detours and stop closures can be found hereor by contacting 311.

 

St. Margarets Bay Road – Road Construction

Monday, Oct. 5, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on St. Margarets Bay Road, near the James Street intersection, on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​ Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.

Cunard Street – Road Closure

Friday, Oct. 2, 2020 (Halifax, NS) –

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Cunard Street, between Robie and Moran streets, will be closed on  Tuesday, Oct. 6 and  Oct. 7.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Marked detours will be in place while work is underway. Pedestrian traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.​

Friday, Oct. 2, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on Chebucto Road, between Connolly and Beech streets, from Monday, Oct. 5 to Friday, Oct. 9.​

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway.​

Montebello Drive – Road Construction

Hobson Lake Drive – Road Closure for Ride for Cancer event

Friday, Oct. 2, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Hobson Lake Drive, from Susie Lake Crescent to just past the Chain of Lakes Trail, will be closed from 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 until 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Security will be in place at the barricades overnight on Friday

Friday, Oct. 2, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Montebello Drive, between Appian Way and the corner of Caledonia Road and Breeze Drive, from Monday, Oct. 5 until Friday, Oct. 9.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.​ Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.

Robie Street – Road Closures

Friday, Oct. 2, 2020 (Halifax, NS) 

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following road closures on Robie Street, between North and Cunard streets, and between Almon and North streets, on Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4:

  • Saturday, Oct. 3: Robie Street, between North and Cunard streets, from 8 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 3: Robie Street, between Almon and North streets, from approximately 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 4: Robie Street, between North and Cunard streets, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Marked detours will be in place while work is underway. Pedestrian traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.​

Construction During COVID-19: Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to provide at least two metres of physical distancing.
