Man charged with break and enter and assault
On February 28 at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers responded to a break and enter in progress at a residence in the 3200 block of Heinish Avenue in Halifax. A man had entered the home, assaulted the two residents when they confronted him and then fled the area on foot. Officers quickly located the suspect nearby and arrested him at approximately 6:10 p.m.
EHS attended and treated both victims on scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
Douglas James Roy Schrader, 39, was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- Robbery with violence (x2)
- Assault (x2)
- Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death (x2)
- Fail to comply with probation order (x2)
