Halifax Regional Police recruiting cadets for its 2026 Police Science Program

Applications for the 2026 Halifax Regional Police Science Program are being accepted until the end of the week.

Those interested in becoming a police officer can apply for the program until January 10, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. AST.

Successful applicants will become cadets in a 38-week police training program that prepares them to become police officers with HRP. The program will be based at the Halifax Regional Police Training School in Dartmouth, which is a recognized private career college by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education.

“As Chief, my priorities for the year ahead include continuing to build a healthy and engaged workforce as well as recruitment and retention,” said Halifax Regional Police Chief Don MacLean. “HRP offers challenging and exciting work assignments and the opportunity to gain experiences in a variety of units and divisions. Individuals who represent the diversity of our community, who are compassionate and who are willing to contribute to the well-being of people in our communities are encouraged to apply.”

Halifax Regional Police will run a consecutive Police Science Program class every year for the next five years.
