Lunenburg RCMP investigating suspicious deaths

Lunenburg District RCMP is investigating two suspicious deaths that occurred in Mahone Bay.

On January 5 at approximately 1:05 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a request to check on the wellbeing of two people at a home on Long Hill Rd. in Mahone Bay. Responding officers found the remains of two adults deceased in the residence. The deaths are being treated as suspicious, the individuals were known to one another.

The ongoing investigation is lead by the Lunenburg District RCMP and supported by Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit (MCU), Nova Scotia RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service. There is no evidence at this time to suggest any risk to the public.

The investigation is in the initial stages and no further information will be released at this time.

Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased people at this difficult time.
