In photos – The new years day polar dip at Lake Banook made quite a splash as many brave dippers, some veterans and some new, took to the icy waters with the Darkside Dippers!
This increasingly popular activity is said to be good for both mind and body, relieving stress, and physical aches.
Today saw an estimated 500 dippers show up, hitting the ice water in waves as members of St Johns Ambulance stood by. All Dippers had access to mobile saunas to help warm up after!
The Darkside Dippers meet every Sunday at Lion’s beach, between Senobe & Banook (close to the boat club) for a noon dip, meeting up usually around 1130 for the prep.
