Police respond to motor vehicle incident

On Friday, December 27, 2024, at about 8:45 a.m., Bridgewater Police Service, the Bridgewater Fire Department, and Emergency Health Service (EHS) personnel responded to the intersection of High Street and Victoria Road in response to a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle collision. The call indicated that a person was stuck and trapped underneath the vehicle.

Upon arrival, police learned that a 75-year-old Lunenburg County male resident was attempting to free his vehicle from a snowbank on High Street when a second vehicle ran over the man and also struck the man’s vehicle.

Police arrived first to the scene and were able to free the man from under the vehicle. The man sustained significant injuries.

Emergency first aid was administered by Police until Bridgewater Fire and EHS personnel arrived.

The man was transported to South Shore Regional Hospital by EHS, and then subsequently airlifted to the QE2 Hospital in Halifax where he remains.

At this time, the investigation into this incident is ongoing. Bridgewater Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed anything related to this matter to contact BPS at 902-543-2464.
