RCMP charges a man following an attempted robbery

Yarmouth Town RCMP has charged a man following an attempted robbery in Yarmouth.

On December 23, at approximately 11:00 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a robbery at a pharmacy on Starrs Rd. where a man brandished a knife, threatened employees, and demanded prescription drugs.

Multiple officers responded immediately, located the suspect leaving the business, and arrested him without incident. A prohibited “butterfly” knife was located on his person during the arrest.

Garth Samuel Makarowski, aged 46, of Yarmouth, has been charged with:

  • Attempted Robbery
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Uttering Threats (two counts)

Makarowski was held in custody and will appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court today.
