Police investigate robbery

On December 7 at approximately 7:25 p.m., officers responded to a robbery in progress at the Needs Convenience store, located at 5881 Duffus Street in Halifax. A man had entered the store, went up to the counter and opened the cigarette drawer. At that time, the employee was able to exit the store safely, without further incident. The man exited the store shortly after with a quantity of cigarettes and fled the area on foot. The employee was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 180lbs, 5’10” tall, between 35 to 45-years-old with a stocky build. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black balaclava, a black coat, grey sweatpants, black sneakers and red gloves with a Coca Cola logo printed in white.  He was also carrying a grey backpack.

Police arrest man in robbery

On December 8 at approximately 8 p.m., officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred at the gas station, located at 2616 Robie Street in Halifax. A man entered the store and demanded money from the employee at the counter. The man then fled the area on foot with a quantity of money. The employee was not physically injured.

At approximately 2:10 a.m., officers located and arrested the suspect.

A 20-year-old man was held for court to face charges of robbery, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

On December 8 at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers responded to a break an enter in progress in the 60 block of Pine Street in Dartmouth. Two men had attempted to break into the garage of a residence when they were confronted by the homeowner who they assaulted. One of the men fled the area on foot while the other fled in a vehicle. Officers located the homeowner who was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect who fled on foot is described as a white man, thin build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing white trackpants and a white sweater. The suspect who fled in a vehicle is described a man with a stocky build who was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.

Man faces charges after series of break and enters in Kings County

Kings District RCMP has charged a man after seizing a number of items from a home in Auburn.

On November 22, officers with Kings District RCMP and Annapolis District RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2800 block of Hwy. 1. The search was in relation to an ongoing investigation into eight commercial break and enters across Kings County.

During the search, officers seized multiple items believed to have been used in a series of recent break-ins.

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the home and three other residents were released.

Shawn Ross Duncan, of Auburn, has been charged with 40 offences including but not limited to:

  • Break and Enter and Theft over $5000
  • Mischief over $5000
  • Wear Disguise with Intent
  • Breach of Probation
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

Duncan appeared in Kentville Provincial Court on November 25. He was remanded in custody and will next appear in court on December 11.

The investigation, which is being led by Kings District RCMP with assistance from Annapolis District RCMP and Kentville Police Service, is ongoing.
