The RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigation Section is investigating an arson that occurred yesterday in Lower Sackville.

At 12:30 p.m. on September 15, Halifax District RCMP were called to a structure fire at an apartment building on Cobequid Rd.

Two separate fires were located and put out by Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency.

The fires are believed to be suspicious in nature. Approximately 50 to 60 residents were evacuated without incident. No one was injured during this incident.

The investigation is ongoing.

September 15, 2020

This fire involved a multi-unit dwelling. There were no injuries and no fatalities.

The ignition source was undetermined. The area of origin was determined to be stairwells.  

There were operating smoke alarms.

The cause of this fire is classified as INCENDIARY.
