In photos – Grade 4 students attended a Carbon Monoxide Awareness Event at HRFE Stn 4 (Lady Hammond) in partnership with the Hawkins-Gignac Foundation for CO Education
The event provided safety information about carbon monoxide which the students could take home to talk safety with their families.
The students listened as speakers shared important stories on why CO safety is important and why they can play an important role by encouraging their families and friends to take the dangerous and potentially deadly gas serious.
This program travels around Canada and engages youth, encouraging them to learn and continue to take safety with them as they grow up.
Although carbon monoxide safety is an all year concern, as we get closer to winter, preventative measures such as cleaning wood burning appliances and chimneys, for example, can prevent dangerous situations as the use of heating appliances increases.
