Aircraft and personnel from 413 Transport and Rescue Squadron, 14 Wing Greenwood, will lead a maritime extraction training exercise in partnership with the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Coast Guard and other Search and Rescue (SAR) organizations in Halifax, Nova Scotia from November 1 to 7.

The exercise will focus on the extraction of simulated patients from marine vessels in the Halifax Harbour from November 1 to 7, 2024. The exercise will include night training which will occur from November 1 to 6, between 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm including flares launched from the CC-130H Hercules aircraft, illuminating areas around Halifax Harbour and McNabs Island. All missions are subject to schedule changes based on evolving operational conditions throughout the exercise.

The Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) SAR exercises are scenarios that are created to be safe, realistic and challenging. These exercises enhance interoperability among the RCAF and other SAR organizations, allowing all personnel to refine their skills and test new tactics in lifelike situations.

413 Transport and Rescue Squadron appreciates the support and cooperation of the community around Halifax Harbour for this important SAR training initiative.
