Special weather statement in effect – strong winds

Strong winds are expected.

Locations: Central and western mainland Nova Scotia

Maximum wind gusts: northwesterly 70 to 80 km/h, potentially reaching 90 km/h in some areas.

Time span: Beginning Saturday morning diminishing Saturday evening.

Similar events in the past have led to:

– scattered utility outages
– delays and cancellations of ferry services
– bridge restrictions for high sided vehicles

Remarks: Strong wind gusts are expected to spread from west to east across much of mainland Nova Scotia on Saturday. Wind gusts may reach or exceed 90 km/h in some localities Saturday afternoon before diminishing in the evening hours. Wind warnings may be required for some areas.
