Weekly Traffic Advisories (4 Oct)

Traffic Delay – Lucasville Road

Location: Lucasville Road at the bridge over the Sackville River

Date: Monday, May 6 until early 2025

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is to facilitate the rehabilitation of the Lucasville Bridge. This is in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Temporary traffic signals will be installed to control traffic flow through the work site as work progresses on the Lucasville Bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Hornes Road Bridge

Location: Hornes Road Bridge, between Cow Bay Road and Caldwell Road

Date: July 2, 2024 to November 2024

Time: 24/7

Work details: This closure is to facilitate the rebuilding of the bridge.

Traffic impact: A signed detour will be in place.

Halifax Transit will be re-routed and the following stops will be closed:

Hornes Road at civic 12 (2221)

Hornes Road at civic 42 (2222)

Hornes Road at civic 74 (2223)

Hornes Road after Cow Bay Road (7147)

Caldwell Road after Hornes Road (8663)

Hornes road after Scott Drive (8662)

Hornes Road at civic 41 (8661)

Hornes Road at civic 65 (8660)

Traffic Delay – Lacewood Drive

Location: Lacewood Drive between Highway 102 and Regency Park Drive

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 25 to Thursday, Oct. 31

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is required for gas service installation and road repairs.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Forest Hills Parkway

Location: Forest Hills Parkway, at the intersection of Circassion Drive

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 15 and Wednesday, Oct. 16

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate a utility installation at 1 Circassion Drive.

Traffic impact: Traffic signals at the intersection will be turned off while work is underway, with traffic control personnel in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Windsor Street, from Cork to London streets

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 15 to Friday, Oct. 18

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road and sidewalk repairs, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: An altered centreline will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: 2638 Lawrencetown Road to Point Road

Date: Thursday, Oct. 10

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Fall River Road from Garden View Drive to Blue Hill Road

Date:  Wednesday, Oct. 9

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Sackville Street, between South Park Street and Dresden Row

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 9

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is required for telecommunications service installation.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Bedford Highway

Location: Bedford Highway, from Flamingo Drive to Bayview Road

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 8

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: An altered centreline and lane drops in the inbound lanes will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 8

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Intersection of Oxford Street and Coburg Road

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 9

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is for road repairs. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: The traffic lights and signals at the intersection of Oxford Street and Coburg Road will not be operational while work is underway. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place to guide motorists through the work area. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Cole Harbour Road

Location: Cole Harbour Road, between Caldwell Road and Cumberland Drive

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 8 to Friday, Oct. 11 (overnight work)

Time: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place during this work. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Road Closure – Bell Road

Location: Bell Road between Robie and Summer streets

Date: Monday, Oct. 7 to Monday, Oct. 14

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is to facilitate underground infrastructure work for the Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project.

Traffic impact: Traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular traffic while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes wherever possible.

Transit impact: Routes 9A, 9B, 123 and 127 will detoured from Bell Road to Veterans Memorial Lane. Notices will be placed on two Summer Street bus stops directing passengers to temporary bus stops located on Veterans Memorial Lane.

Location: Lacewood Drive, from Cedarbrae Lane to Dunbrack Street

Date: Friday, Sept. 27 until Friday, Oct. 4 (weekdays only)

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work includes asphalt overlay, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Upper Water Street at Barrington Street

Location: Intersection of Upper Water Street at Barrington Street

Date: Saturday, Oct. 12 to Tuesday, Oct. 15

Time: 8 p.m. on Saturday to 7 a.m. on Tuesday

Work details: This work is required to facilitate the installation of underground electrical infrastructure in support of the Cogswell District project.

Traffic impact: Residents will be detoured via Duke and Cogswell streets. Local access to Purdy’s Lane, the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel and the Casino parkade will be maintained via Lower Water Street. Access to the Casino only will be maintained via the Barrington Street and Upper Water Street intersection.

Transit impact: Transit routes that travel along Upper Water Street will be detoured via Cogswell Street. There will be no impact to bus stops.
