Traffic Delay – Lucasville Road

Location: Lucasville Road at the bridge over the Sackville River

Date: Monday, May 6 until early 2025

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is to facilitate the rehabilitation of the Lucasville Bridge. This is in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Temporary traffic signals will be installed to control traffic flow through the work site as work progresses on the Lucasville Bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Hornes Road Bridge

Location: Hornes Road Bridge, between Cow Bay Road and Caldwell Road

Date: July 2, 2024 to November 2024

Time: 24/7

Work details: This closure is to facilitate the rebuilding of the bridge.

Traffic impact: A signed detour will be in place.

Halifax Transit will be re-routed and the following stops will be closed:

  • Hornes Road at civic 12 (2221)
  • Hornes Road at civic 42 (2222)
  • Hornes Road at civic 74 (2223)
  • Hornes Road after Cow Bay Road (7147)
  • Caldwell Road after Hornes Road (8663)
  • Hornes road after Scott Drive (8662)

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 25 to Thursday, Oct. 31

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is required for gas service installation and road repairs.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Windsor Street, from Cork to London streets

Date: Friday, Oct. 4

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work includes sidewalk repair, in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: An altered centerline will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Bedford Highway, from Bayview Road to Flamingo Drive

Date: Saturday, Oct. 5

Time: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Street Closure – Barrington Street

Location: Barrington Street between Prince and George streets

Date: Sunday, Oct. 6 to Friday, Oct. 11

Time: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work details: This is required for gas main installation and road repairs.

Traffic impact: Detour signage and traffic personnel will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Cobequid Road, from First Lake Drive to Lakeview Road

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 2 to Friday Oct. 4

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

Work details: This work includes asphalt repair in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic control will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Oxford Street, between Quinpool and Chebucto roads

Date: Until Monday, Oct. 21 (weekdays only)

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate natural gas pipeline installation and street restoration.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained while this work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Windsor Street, between Cork and London streets

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 2

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained with an altered centreline in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Oxford Street and Coburg Road

Location: Intersection of Oxford Street and Coburg Road

Date: Thursday, Oct. 3

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is for road repairs. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: The traffic lights and signals at the intersection of Oxford Street and Coburg Road will not be operational while work is underway. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place to guide motorists through the work area. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Joseph Howe Drive

Location: Joseph Howe Drive, between Mumford Road and the Armdale Rotary

Time: From 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30 to 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 (night work)

Work details: This is to facilitate natural gas pipeline installation.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained while this work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Vienna Street  

Location:  Vienna Street, from Swaine to Dublin streets

Date:  Tuesday, Oct 1

Time:  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work includes paving, in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Work will include the intersection of Oxford and Vienna streets. Stop-and-go traffic control will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Bell Road

Location: Bell Road between Robie and Summer streets

Date: Monday, Oct. 7 to Monday, Oct. 14

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is to facilitate underground infrastructure work for the Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project.

Traffic impact: Traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular traffic while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes wherever possible.

Transit impact: Routes 9A, 9B, 123 and 127 will detoured from Bell Road to Veterans Memorial Lane. Notices will be placed on two Summer Street bus stops directing passengers to temporary bus stops located on Veterans Memorial Lane.

Date: Friday, Sept. 27 until Friday, Oct. 4 (weekdays only)

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work includes asphalt overlay, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: University Avenue, from Robie to Summer streets

Date: Monday Sept. 30 to Friday, Oct. 18

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (weekdays only)

Work details: This work is to facilitate in street service installations for the IWK expansion project.

Traffic impact: Traffic control personnel will be on site to guide motorists and pedestrians through the work area. Motorists should expect delays and are asking to use alternatives routes wherever possible.

Location: Roblea Drive, from Stephen Cross Drive to Spring Avenue

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 1

Time: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Work details: This closure is required to facilitate paving and supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Pedestrian and emergency vehicle access will be maintained while work is underway. Traffic control will be on site to guide traffic through the work area. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Almon Street between Gladstone and Robie streets

Date: Monday, Sept. 23 to Monday, Oct. 7

Time: 24/7

Work details: This closure is required to remove underground infrastructure in support of the construction of the Almon Street Bikeway.

Traffic impact: Traffic personnel will be on-site to direct local traffic. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Date: Thursday, Sept. 26 to Wednesday, Oct. 9 (weekdays)

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: : This work is for pavement maintenance, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while this work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Parade in East Preston

Location: Beginning at East Preston Church and ending at East Preston Daycare

Date: Saturday, Sept. 28

Time: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Details: This traffic delay is to facilitate the East Preston Daycare 50th Year Anniversary Parade.

Traffic impact: The parade will begin at East Preston Church, 206 Upper Partridge River Road, right on William Street, right onto Walker Street, continue onto Bell Street, move onto Highway 7 and finish at East Preston Daycare, 1799 Highway 7.

Traffic delays are expected as the parade travels through the parade route. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

CONTINUING WORK

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Kenwood Drive, Sydney River

Kenwood Drive from Oceanview Drive to Kings Road is closed for construction of a roundabout until Saturday, November 9.

A detour is in place.

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Sluice Bridge, East Bay

The Sluice Bridge on Chapel Road is closed for repairs until Friday, October 4.

A detour is in place via Route 216/Trunk 4.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Donaldson Bridge, French River

The Donaldson Bridge on Lake Road, about three kilometres west of Tatamagouche, is closed until further notice.

The detours are Trout Brook Road and Cooper Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

The northbound side of the Salmon River Bridge on Highway 102, between exits 14 and 14A, is reduced to one lane for bridge work. The northbound right lane will be closed 24 hours a day. The expected completion date is Thursday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site, and signs are posted.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice because of a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Route 366

A section of Route 366 is closed because of a culvert failure. Only local traffic is allowed from East Amherst to Port Howe. A detour is available via Trunk 6.

Work continues until Monday, September 30.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford / Lower Sackville

Highway 102 near Exit 4C has regular lane closures and construction in both directions until further notice, for construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 interchange.

Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the northbound lanes and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the southbound lanes. Traffic control is on-site. Both lanes will be open in the evening and overnight.

Motorists should expect delays and should use alternative routes when possible.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 111 (Windsor Street Exchange), Halifax

Construction on the structure over Mackintosh Street will continue until further notice.

Traffic control is on-site.

HANTS COUNTY: Halfway River Bridge, Hantsport

The Halfway River Bridge on Trunk 1 is closed for repairs until Thursday, October 31.

A detour is in place.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Beaton Road, Hawthorne

Beaton Road, five kilometres from Trunk 19, is reduced to one lane for road work until Thursday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Roseburn Road, Whycocomagh

Roseburn Road, 5.2 kilometres from Whycocomagh-Port Hood Road, is reduced to one lane for road work until Thursday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Rough Brook Bridge, Queensville

The Rough Brook Bridge on Highway 105, about 2.2 kilometres north of Blue Ridge Road, is reduced to one lane for repaving until Thursday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Shore Road, Judique

Shore Road, 0.2 kilometres from MacKay’s Pond, will be closed until Tuesday, October 1 for a culvert replacement.

Traffic will be detoured via Trunk 19 and Maryville Station Road.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Trunk 19, Harbourview

Trunk 19 from the Captain Gillis Bridge, northerly for 250 metres, is reduced to one lane for repaving until Thursday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place form sunrise to sunset.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Walker Cove Road, Walker Cove

Walker Cove Road, 1.2 kilometres from Trunk 19, is reduced to one lane for road work until Thursday, October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

The Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

RICHMOND COUNTY: St. Peters Fourchu Road, Saint Esprit

St. Peters Fourchu Road will have alternating lane closures for repaving until Monday, September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset. Weekend work is expected.
