Municipality recognizing National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Mi’kmaw History Month and Treaty Day

The Halifax Regional Municipality invites residents to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Treaty Day and Mi’kmaw History Month.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is located in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and traditional lands of the Mi’kmaw people. The municipality acknowledges the Peace and Friendship Treaties signed in this Territory and recognizes that we are all Treaty People.

On Friday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m., residents are invited to attend a flag raising event at Grand Parade, which will include the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Proclamation reading by Mayor Savage.

Halifax City Hall will be lit in orange on Monday, Sept. 30 in recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and on Tuesday, Oct. 1, in recognition of Mi’kmaw History Month.

On Monday, Sept. 30, residents are invited to attend National Day for Truth and Reconciliation activities for all ages hosted by the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre taking place at 2021 Brunswick Street, Suite 209 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
