Update: Man wanted by police on province-wide warrant arrested

The​ 25-year-old man from Wagmatcook for whom a province-wide warrant was obtained is now in custody. Baddeck RCMP have arrested him without incident. The man has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear​ in Wagmatcook Provincial Court on September 8.

The RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance.

Desmond Bernard wanted on province-wide arrest warrant

Victoria District RCMP has obtained a warrant for the arrest of Desmond Bernard, who is charged with several offences in Victoria County.

Desmond Bernard, 25, of Wagmatcook is charged with the following:

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Resisting Arrest x 2
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Assault Police x 2
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Uttering Threats
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Assault x 2
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Fail to Comply x 8
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Mischief x 2
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Unlawfully in Dwelling House
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public

The charges are in relation to an investigation into an assault that began on December 27 in Wagmatcook. Efforts by police to locate Bernard have not been successful.

Bernard is described as​ Indigenous, 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds. He has dark brown hair and brown eyes. He may be in the Sydney area.​
