Upcoming traffic disruptions and Halifax Transit impacts related to construction at the intersection of Oxford Street and Jubilee Road

Date: Beginning Thursday, Aug. 29 to Tuesday, Sept. 3
Time: 24/7
Work details: This work is needed to upgrade traffic lights and repair infrastructure to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
Motorists and pedestrians
Detours will be in place for vehicles while work is underway. Advanced signage and traffic control personnel will be in place to guide motorists through the work area. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.
Pedestrians are advised to use caution when navigating areas where crews are actively working. Cyclists are permitted through the intersection but are asked to dismount and walk bicycles through the work area.
Halifax Transit
Halifax Transit users will be significantly impacted as Routes 1 and 24 will detour to Robie Street and Quinpool Road. In addition, all bus stops on Oxford Street, between Quinpool Road and South Street, and on Coburg Road, between Oxford Street and Robie Street, will be temporarily closed while work is underway.
Routes 4 and 10 will continue to service bus stops on South Street, between Oxford and Robie Streets. Buses will continue to service existing stops along the detour route.
During this detour, the following bus stops will not be serviced by these routes:
- Route 1: 7412, 2308, 7402, 7421, 7406, 7410, 7403, 7401, 6453, 6447, 6449, 6454, 6452, 6451, 6450 and 6448
- Route 24: 7412, 2308, 7402, 7421, 7406, 7410, 7403, 7401, 7414, 7415, 8291, 8304, 8316, 8302 and 8317
Buses will continue to service existing stops along the detour route. A map of the impacted transit routes can be found on our website.
