RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit arrest two men in relation to break and enter
RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment’s Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has arrested two men following a break and enter in Westphal.
On July 25, at approximately 8:30 a.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a break and enter at a business on Hwy. 7. RCMP officers learned that a sea container located on the property had been forced opened by two men. Its content, valued over $20,000, was then stolen by the pair who had arrived in a pickup truck.
Investigators were able to identify the two suspects involved in the break-in.
That afternoon, SCEU officers, with assistance from Halifax Regional Police and RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment uniformed officers, located and safely arrested both suspects after they were seen in the vicinity of a home known to them, located on Montague Rd. in Lake Loon.
At approximately 7 p.m. that evening, SCEU officers executed a search warrant at the home on Montague Rd. During the search, officers located and seized a portion of the property stolen from the sea container.
On July 26, based on information and evidence gathered through the course of the investigation, officers recovered the remainder of the stolen property, which had been sold by the pair to a local business.
The 41-year-old Lake Loon man and 28-year-old Moncton man were later released on conditions. They are both scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face charges that include Breaking and Entering with Intent, Theft Over $5,000, Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime, and Possession of Break-in Instrument.
