In photos – It takes a little finesse, and a lot of muscle, to get the impressive SAILGP boats into the water and ready to go
Bringing the massive “wings” out of storage to a waiting crane, crews attach the sail to a crane which raises it off the ground as the boat body is slid under it.
Crews board the ship as the wing is lowered down, connecting the vessel to the wing. Once connected, crews attach more lifting resources to the boat which is then gently raised and swing out over the water.
Once lowered into the water, the boat crew boards via another boat that pulls up beside it. The racers do a thorough check of the fast ships before heading out.
