Weekly Traffic Advisories (31 May) 

Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

Traffic Delay – Lucasville Road

Location: Lucasville Road at the bridge over the Sackville River

Date: Monday, May 6 until early 2025

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is to facilitate the rehabilitation of the Lucasville Bridge. This is in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Temporary traffic signals will be installed to control traffic flow through the work site as work progresses on the Lucasville Bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Street Closure – Burnside Drive

Location: Burnside Drive, between Akerley Boulevard and Wright Avenue

Date: April 29, 2024 to June 2024

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is needed to support the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Akerley Boulevard and Burnside Drive.

Traffic impact: Detours will be in place for vehicles and pedestrians.orists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible

Traffic Delay – Lakeside Drive

Location: Intersection of Lakeside Drive and St. Margarets Bay Road

Date: Sunday, June 9 to Friday, June 21

Time: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work details: This work is to replace a water main and for road work.

Traffic impact: There will be an altered centre line in place. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Road Closure – Chebucto Road

Location: Chebucto Road, from Mumford Road and Sherwood Street.

Date: Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This closure is required for water service renewals.

Traffic impact: Sidewalks will be closed on both sides. Detours will be in place for vehicles and pedestrians. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Almon Street, from Gladstone Street to Robie Street

Date: Friday, June 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Work details: This work is to facilitate road and sidewalk repair. This is in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Road Closure – Ronald Smith Avenue

Location: Ronald Smith Avenue, from Burnside Drive to Ilsley Avenue

Date: Saturday, June 8

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This work includes road repair in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Detours will be in place for vehicles and pedestrians. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Burnside Drive

Location: Intersection of Burnside Drive and Commodore Drive

Date: Wednesday, June 5 to Friday, June 7

Time: 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Work details: This work is required for street cleaning and restoration.

Traffic impact: Lane reductions will be in place overnight. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Road Closure – Beech Street

Location: Beech Street, from Chebucto Road to Quinpool Road

Date: Thursday, June 6 to Friday, August 2

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This work includes road repair and supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: This will be a ‘rolling closure’ that will move with the construction crew as they proceed through the work area. Detours will be in place for vehicles. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Almon Street 

Location: Almon Street between Robie Street and Windsor Street 

Date: Wednesday, June 5 to Friday, June 28 

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Work details: This work is to facilitate road and sidewalk repair. This is in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.  

Traffic Impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained with an altered centre line in place. The sidewalk on the north side between Gladstone Street and Windsor Street will be closed. Detours will be in place for pedestrians. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Intersection of St. Margarets Bay Road and Timberlea Village Parkway

Date:  Wednesday, June 5

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is for road repair. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily on Lakeside Park Drive

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on St. Margarets Bay Road

Work details:  This work is to facilitate a water main replacement and road work.

Traffic impact: Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Sackville Drive from Margeson Drive to Fenerty Road

Date: Tuesday, June 4 to Friday, June 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Work details: This work includes asphalt repair in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: An altered centre line and stop and go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Davison Street, from Charles Street to West Street

Date: Wednesday, June 5 to Wednesday, July 3

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details:  This work is to facilitate a water main replacement and road work.

Location:  Timberlea Village Parkway, from Civic Address 501 to Highway 103

Date: Monday, June 3

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is for road repairs. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: During this work stop-and-go traffic will be in place with occasional lane drops. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

  Road Closure – Kingswood Drive

Location: Kingswood Drive, from Hannah Elise Drive to Anahid Drive

Date: Monday, June 3 until Friday, June 14 (weekdays only)

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Work details: This work includes asphalt repair and supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Detours will be in place for vehicles and pedestrians while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

NEW WORK

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104

Highway 104 from the Exit 38 eastbound off ramp to 300 metres west of the Trunk 4 underpass will be reduced to one lane for paving until Wednesday, July 31.

Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Traffic control is on-site.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 106

Highway 106 from Exit 22 on Highway 104 to Exit 2 on Highway 106 – about 7.2 kilometres – will be reduced to one lane for paving from Monday, June 3, until Friday, June 28.

Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset. Traffic control is on-site.

CONTINUING WORK

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Donaldson Bridge, French River

Donaldson Bridge on Lake Road, about three kilometres west of Tatamagouche, is closed until further notice.

The detours are Trout Brook Road and Cooper Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from the Kennedy Hill intersection to Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice because of a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice because of a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Route 366

A section of Route 366 is closed because of a culvert failure. Only local traffic is allowed from East Amherst to Port Howe. A detour is available via Trunk 6.

The culvert is expected to be replaced this summer.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102Bedford / Lower Sackville

Highway 102, near Exit 4C, has regular lane closures and construction in both directions until Saturday, August 31, for construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 interchange.

Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the northbound lanes and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the southbound lanes. Traffic control is on-site. Both lanes will be open in the evening and overnight.

Motorists should expect delays and should use alternative routes when possible.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 111 (Windsor Street Exchange), Halifax

Construction on the structure over Mackintosh Street will continue until further notice.

Traffic control is on-site.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Highway 105, Glendale to River Denys

The section of Highway 105 from Exit 2 to Exit 3 is reduced to one lane for paving until Saturday, August 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place on weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Highway 105, Maple Brook

Highway 105, one kilometre east of Maple Brook Road easterly for seven kilometres, is reduced to one lane for paving until Thursday, August 1.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Victoria Bridge, Kingsville

Highway 105 near Exit 2 (Riverside Road) is reduced to one lane until Friday, June 7, for maintenance to the Victoria Bridge.

Traffic lights are in place. Work takes place weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

PICTOU COUNTY: Route 348, Sunnybrae

Route 348 from the Pictou–Guysborough county line northerly for seven kilometres is reduced to one lane for paving until Friday, August 30.

Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Traffic control is on-site.

PICTOU COUNTY: Route 374, Hopewell

Route 374 from the Pictou–Guysborough county line northerly to Lorne Station Road is reduced to one lane for paving until Friday, June 28.

Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Traffic control is on-site.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

The Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.
