**** Truro Police Release

Yesterday morning, the Truro Police Service partnered with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation Vehicle Compliance Officers to conduct a road safety check stop at Willow St and McClure’s Mills Rd in Truro which resulted in the following :

– 3 vehicles were identified with fraudulent (fake) inspection stickers and the drivers were issued Summary Offence Tickets.

– 3 vehicles were issued orders to be reinspected.

– 6 vehicles were towed as they were prohibited from operation due to safety concerns.

– 5 vehicles were inspected by Compliance Officers on site and issued rejection stickers.

Truro Police officers issued 27 Summary Offence Tickets for a variety of charges under the Motor Vehicle Act.

In addition, one person was charged with driving while license is suspended, and another person was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Halifax area.

Contrary to popular belief, these road safety initiatives are an attempt to make our streets safer for everyone.

Driving is a privilege, and the onus is on the vehicle’s operator to ensure the vehicle they are operating is safe and legal for the road.
