RCMP Northeast Traffic Services investigate collision that left six people injured
RCMP Northeast Traffic Services is investigating a two-vehicle collision that left six people injured in Big Pond.
On April 19, at approximately 7:47 a.m., RCMP Northeast Traffic Services, fire and EHS, responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Hwy 4. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that the vehicles, a black Hyundai Kona and a grey Toyota Corolla, were travelling in opposite directions when they collided head on.
The driver and sole occupant of the Kona, a 37-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance.
The five occupants of the Corolla, four men and a woman, suffered moderate to serious injuries and were transported to hospital by ambulance.
A collision reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
Hwy. 4 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
