Collective Bargaining Update: Tentative Agreements Reached, Classes Continue

Today, Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) and the Atlantic Academic Union (AAU) reached tentative collective agreements on behalf of Faculty and Professional Support colleagues. The College is open and classes, courses and student services will continue as usual tomorrow, Monday, March 18.

Both bargaining teams kept the success of students front of mind throughout this process, especially during these last few days of collective bargaining.

“We worked hard to understand our different perspectives while pushing to ensure the most equitable offer that would also acknowledge the economic realities of our members. These are new agreements that set us on a positive path,” said AAU Lead Negotiator, Susan Thompson Graham.

The AAU will be recommending that its members accept the tentative agreements and will schedule a ratification vote by the membership this week.

“These agreements are opportunities to strengthen the learning environment for students and employees today and in the future,” said NSCC President, Don Bureaux. “I am grateful for the patience and understanding of employees, students and partners throughout the collective bargaining process.”

Details of the agreements will not be available until ratified.
