CheerExpo National Championships 2024 set for Halifax, April 6 & 7, 2024

The CheerExpo National Championships, the largest cheerleading event in Atlantic Canada, returns to celebrate its’ 20th anniversary in Halifax. The event will take place at its’ new location, the Halifax Exhibition Centre, on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7.

CheerExpo 2024 will host 127 teams and thousands of cheerleaders from all over Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Barbados.

Participants will perform highly competitive cheer performances that combine power gymnastics, acrobatics, stunts, aerial skills and dance. Performances will be judged by the industries best for opportunities to compete in international competitions.

“We are excited to share the beautiful city of Halifax with all of the visiting athletes, coaches and fans and look forward to sharing two full days of performances with the people of Halifax”, says Laura Mar, CheerExpo President. “It takes several months for each team to perfect their two minutes and 30 second routine for their ‘moment in the spotlight’ on the competition floor; and they’ll be putting it all on the line for the chance at a banner or a chance to represent Canada at global events, including the World Championships. If you have never witnessed competitive cheerleading live this is your chance!”

Other notable happenings during the event include the presentation of the Canadian Coach of the Year, instructional classes all weekend long for athletes and coaches, a large vendor area connecting suppliers with teams, cash prize for the Golden Buzzer and a judges training program.

The weekend also gives parents and children a chance to gather more information on cheer programs being offered locally. “There are so many strong programs right here in the HRM. Local athletes and coaches are winning titles and acclaim on the global stage. It’s truly remarkable!” says Laura Mar.

Tickets for the general public (spectator passes) are available at the door. All ticketing is cash only. Day passes are $20.00 (including tax) and weekend passes are $30.00 (including tax). Children ages five and under are free.

Doors open daily at 8 a.m. with competitions beginning at 9 a.m.

This is an all-ages event. There are approximately 2000 free parking spaces available at the Halifax Exhibition Centre on a first come, first serve basis.
