Ontario man charged with impaired driving
RCMP Northeast Traffic Services – Cape Breton (NETS-CB) has charged an Ontario man with impaired driving in Upper North Sydney.
On January 10, at approximately 9:50 p.m., RCMP NETS-CB responded to a complaint of a car travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 125.
With assistance from the Cape Breton Regional Police Service, RCMP officers successfully stopped the vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, after it nearly collided with an RCMP cruiser.
The driver and sole occupant of the Corolla, 48-year-old Robert Peach of Toronto, showed signs of impairment. He was arrested and transported to the NETS-CB office where he provided breath samples that registered at 270mg% and 250mg%.
Peach was released from custody and will appear in Sydney Provincial Court on February 27, at 9:30 a.m., to face charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Impaired Operation Equal to, or Over, 80mg%.
Road safety is a priority for the Nova Scotia RCMP. We continue to encourage members of the public to call 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
