In photos – With the holidays fast approaching, we got to spend some time visiting some of the wonderful critters waiting to find their forever home at the Dartmouth shelter of the SPCA.

Meet our gentle giant Shera! This girl can be timid of loud noises and new faces at first but she quickly warms up and will want to be an 80lb lap dog. The shelter was a huge adjustment for Shera so she is looking for a quieter home that she can blossom in! Shera does have a prey drive, and would prefer to be the single star of her household to get all the attention!)

The cats, dogs, bunnies and Guinea pigs were thrilled to show off their Festive cheer as the tremendous staff struggled to get the fur babies to stay still long enough for a photo (and their efforts were much appreciated! Lol)

Gender: Neutered Male

Meet Javi! (Haw-vee) Javi came to us without much knowledge of how to politely interact with people, but after some time to get used to the shelter, and some training put in he is learning how to enjoy life while keeping his manners intact! Javi LOVES to play fetch in the yard, and enjoys walks on a longline to explore. Javi does display resource guarding of his food. He requires an active home that has previous experience with dogs.)

Ranging in age, the fur babies we met (with several more we didn’t meet on this day or, in all honesty whose photos didn’t turn out!) are well deserving of finding their forever homes.
Until then, they are well cared for by the many living SPCA staff and volunteers who tend to their needs every day of the year, regardless of holiday or weather.
Besides cleaning and feeding, as well as on scene medical care, the staff provide exercise, interaction and love to the sweet critters.
The animals would truly be lost without the love and care from the staff while awaiting a forever home and love of a family.

Looking for a built in best friend? Look no further, Presley could be just for you!
This handsome guy came to us as a stray looking for some much needed TLC, mainly to help with his skin problems. Presley will need to be in a adult only home, and be the only pet due to his high prey drive. He is looking for a home where he can get all the love and live his best life, can that be you?)

Yota is a lovely girl who is happy to tell you exactly what she wants. (the answer is ALWAYS fetch!). Yota has a big bark that can make her seem a bit intimidating, but she is really a big softy. She is still working on her leash manners, but would love a home who can help her burn off some energy.

Meet proud papa Clark and his son Kent!
This bonded pair of guys are outgoing and confident guinea pigs looking for a forever home.
Both Clark and Kent are great cuddlers, they don’t mind being handled and would likely enjoy living with kids that can give them attention.
