Halifax Regional Police traffic section focus on vehicle deficiencies

This month, the Halifax Regional Police Traffic Unit is focused on drivers who are operating vehicles with deficiencies on the roadway.

The provincial theme for traffic enforcement in November is Winter Road Safety and officers will be looking for drivers operating vehicles with deficiencies causing concerns for safety on our roadways.

So far this month, the Traffic Unit, issued 128 summary offence tickets, with 22 of them issued for vehicle deficiencies. They also issued 29 for speeding and 25 for drivers who were operating a vehicle without valid insurance.

With the winter season approaching, motorists are encouraged to check their vehicles before heading out on the road and to pay particular attention to issues such as vehicle inspections, tire treads, wipers and vehicle lights that are not functioning properly.

We all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe. If you see someone driving dangerously, report it to police by calling 911.
