Weekly Traffic Advisories (Oct 21)

Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

 

**** Municipal Release

Traffic Delay – Massachusetts Avenue

Location:​ Massachusetts Avenue, from Columbus Street to MacKay Bridge ramps

Dates: Wednesday, Oct. 26

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Work details: This work is for pavement maintenance. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact:​ During this time, there will be lane drops in place.​Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Young Street

Location: Young Street, between Oxford and Connolly streets

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 25, to Wednesday, Oct. 26

Time: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is to facilitate natural gas service installation. For questions, residents may contact Eastward Energy at 902.466.2003.

Traffic impact: During this work, lane narrowing for east and west-bound traffic will be in place. Two-way traffic to be maintained at all times.

Road Construction – Young Street

Location: Young Street, between Windsor Street and Kempt Road

Date: Monday, Oct. 24

Time: 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Work details: This work is to support construction associated with a new development.

Traffic impact: Lane reductions will remain in place during afternoon peak hours and into the evening to facilitate street excavation. Two-way traffic will maintained. Motorists should expect delays and consider using alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Tower Road

Location: Tower Road at Harbourview Drive

Date: Monday, October 24 ​

Time: Noon to 4 p.m.

Work details: Paving is taking place on Harbourview Drive. When crews are at the intersection with Tower Road, stop-and-go traffic will be required on Tower Road only to accommodate the paving equipment.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place occasionally when crews are near Tower Road while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible

Road Construction – Hemlock Ravine Parking Lot

Location: Hemlock Ravine Park Parking Lot, 40 Kent Avenue

Date: October 24 to November 18

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with additional hours as required.

Work details: This work is in support of grading and paving the parking lot, upgrading lighting and landscaping.

Traffic impact: Street parking is available on Kent Avenue. There is additional street parking available at other entrances to the park on Ravine Park Crescent, Julies Walk and St. Laurent Place.

Nighttime Road Construction – Hammonds Plains Road

 

Location: Hammonds Plains Road from Pockwock to Lucasville roads

Date:  Sunday, October 23 to Wednesday, October 26

 

Time: Overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day

 

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop and go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Joseph Howe Drive

 

Location: Joseph Howe Drive, between Craigmore Drive and Clinton Avenue

 

Date: Monday October 24 to Wednesday October 26

 

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

 

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate underground utility work.

 

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway, with one lane of traffic maintained in both directions. Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

NEW WORK

ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Bayard Bridge, Wilmot

Bayard Bridge on Bayard Road is scheduled for repairs to the bridge deck starting Monday, October 24, to Friday, October 28.

The bridge will be closed to all traffic between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.

A detour will be in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Moose River Bridge, Garden of Eden

Moose River Bridge, on Route 347, is reduced to one lane today, October 21, and Saturday, October 22, for bridge joint replacement.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

CONTINUING WORK

ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Brickton Bridge, Brickton

Brickton Bridge, on Mount Hanley Road, will be closed for repairs until December 16.

A detour is in place.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbound lane about one kilometre west of James River Interchange, Exit 30, is reduced to one lane for about one kilometre.

Twinning work continues until 2023.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Burnett Bridge, Pine Grove

Burnett Bridge, over McLean Brook on Route 224 in Pine Grove, is closed until further notice.

Detour signs and a 30-tonne weight restriction are in place. All other trucks are to follow the posted truck route. The detour is via Saint Andrews River Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

Salmon River Bridge, on Highway 102 between exits 14 and 14A, is reduced to one lane northbound until October 31 due to work on the bridge decking.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Street), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Street traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.

The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will remain in place until mid-November.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford/Lower Sackville

Highway 102 from Exit 4A to Exit 4C, will have lane reductions and intermittent road closures on the northbound and southbound highway for the construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 Interchange.

Highway 102 northbound and southbound, Highway 101, Bedford Highway, Bedford Bypass, Duke Street, Glendale Avenue and Sackville Drive will have intermittent road closures for blasting until June 30, 2023.

Traffic control will be on-site. Road closures for blasting will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Lane reductions will occur from sunrise to sunset Monday to Thursday and sunrise to noon on Friday.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp will be closed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Dunmore Road, Dunmore

Dunmore Road, from one kilometre east of Trunk 19 easterly for 6.3 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for gravelling until November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: East River West Side Road, Eureka

The section between 6280 East River West Side Road and Churchville Road is closed until October 31 for the replacement of the Eureka Mills Bridge.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Trunk 4, Linacy

Trunk 4, from Frasers Mountain Road to Pine Tree Road, will be reduced to one lane until October 31 for repairs.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

PICTOU COUNTY: Westville Road, New Glasgow

Westville Road at Highway 104 is closed nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work continues until October 31. A detour will be in place and drivers should proceed with caution.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Highway 103, Jordan Falls

Highway 103, about 100 metres west of Exit 24, has alternating lane closures for rehabilitation work on Jordan Falls Bridge until October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105

Highway 105, from 3.2 kilometres west of Trunk 30 easterly to 600 metres east of Route 312, is reduced to one lane for road work until October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
