Street racing and excessive tire marks on Otter Lake Rd.

Last weekend, RCMP were called to Otter Lake Dr. for a complaint of street racing. Over 300 vehicles were in the area and dispersed upon police arrival. The RCMP would like to advise the public that this is illegal and the drivers can be charged under the Motor Vehicle Act. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50.

“The need to speed is best done on a controlled track.” “The consequences of street racing last longer than bragging rights.” says Cpl. Dal Hutchinson with the Halifax District RCMP Traffic Unit.

Road safety is a priority for the RCMP and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well. If you see someone driving unsafely on our roads, please report it by calling the RCMP at 1-800-803-RCMP (7267).
