Weekly Traffic Advisories (Sept 22) 

Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid

 

**** Municipal Release

Road Closure – Lucien Drive

Location: Lucien Drive, from Dorethea Drive to Owen Drive

Date: Monday, October 2 to Friday, October 13

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily (Note: Work will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. only on Saturday, October 7)

Work details: This work is for pavement maintenance, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lucien Drive will be closed while work is underway. Local street access will be maintained. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible. Sidewalks will remain open.

Traffic Delays – George Street

Location: George Street, between Barrington and Hollis streets

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 3

Time: 6–11 p.m.

Details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate film production.

Traffic impact: Halifax Regional Police will be on site to hold traffic for a few minutes at a time while scenes are being filmed. Traffic will be released between takes. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Street Closure – Almon Street

Location: Almon Street between Isleville and Gottingen streets

Date: Saturday, September 30 to Sunday, October 1

Time: 8 a.m. Saturday to 4 p.m. Sunday

Work details: This closure is to facilitate the safe trenching and maneuvering of equipment servicing a new development.

Traffic impact: A marked detour will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Traffic Delay – Gottingen Street

Location: Gottingen Street, between Cogswell Street and Portland Place

Date: Saturday, September 30 and Monday, October 2

Time: 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Work details: This work is for the installation of a gas main, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Gottingen Street will be fully closed to traffic between Cogswell Street and Portland Place while work is underway. A signed detour will be in place, and the sidewalk on the east side of the work site will remain open. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Lacewood Drive

Location: Lacewood Drive, from Bayview Road to Braemount Drive

Date: Wednesday, September 27

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate underground utility work.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Waverley Road 

Location: Waverley Road, from Civic 1440 to Civic 1482

Date: Monday, September 25 to Tuesday, October 10

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is for guide rail replacement, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and use alternative routes whenever possible.

NEW WORK

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford / Lower Sackville

Highway 102 from Exit 4A to Exit 4C will have lane reductions and intermittent road closures in both directions for the construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 interchange from Tuesday, September 26, until Monday, October 30.

Traffic control will be on-site. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Highway 105, Big Marsh Road

Highway 105 from Big Marsh Road easterly for five kilometres will be reduced to one lane for surfacing work from Saturday, September 23, until October 31.

Traffic control will be on-site. Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Whiteside to Louisdale

Highway 104, from Whiteside to Louisdale, will be reduced to one lane for surfacing work from Monday, September 25, until October 31.

Traffic control will be on-site. Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

CONTINUING WORK

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Salt Springs Brook Bridge, Trunk 7

Salt Springs Brook Bridge on Trunk 7, about four kilometres south of the Town of Antigonish, is reduced to one lane until further notice for repairs.

Temporary traffic signals are in place.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Trunk 4, Antigonish

Trunk 4 between James and Church streets is closed, except to local traffic, until October 19 for construction of a roundabout.

Detour signs are in place.

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 105, North Sydney

The intersection of Highway 105 and Tobin Road is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Friday, September 29.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Donaldson Bridge, French River

Donaldson Bridge on Lake Road, about three kilometres west of Tatamagouche, is closed until further notice.

The detours are on Trout Brook Road and Cooper Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

Salmon River Bridge, on Highway 102 between exits 14 and 14A, is reduced to one lane northbound until October for work on the bridge decking.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice because of a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Fountain Road, South Middleboro

Fountain Road, between Hunter Road and Simmonds Road, is closed until October 31 for removal and replacement of the Howard Bridge.

Traffic will be detoured from Fountain Road via Simmonds Road and Keers Mill Road.

Vehicles more than four metres wide need to plan an alternate route because of the width of structures on the detour route.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Trunk 16, Lincolnville

Trunk 16, from 0.2 kilometres north of the Old Monastery Road northerly to 1.4 kilometres north of the Lincolnville Loop, has alternating lane closures for paving and brush cutting until October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp is closed until October.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104 and Highway 106, Alma

Highway 104 at Exit 22, to Exit 2 on Highway 106, is reduced to one lane for paving until October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

PICTOU COUNTY: Trunk 4, Broadway

Trunk 4 between civic numbers 10421 and 10470 is closed for culvert replacement until September 30.

The detour is via Highway 104 between Exit 27 at Sutherland River and Exit 29 at Kenzieville.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury

Highway 104, at St. Peters Railway overpass, is reduced to one lane for repairs until September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

RICHMOND COUNTY: West Bay Road, Port Hawkesbury

West Bay Road, from Nature Dream Boulevard, easterly for 3.8 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Baccaro Road, Port La Tour

Baccaro Road has alternating lane closures for roadwork until October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Trunk 3, Shag Harbour

Trunk 3, from Evelyn Richardson Memorial Elementary School to 350 metres west of Pas Lane, will have alternating lane closures for roadwork until November 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105, South Haven

Highway 105, from 3.2 kilometres west of Trunk 30, easterly to 600 metres east of Route 312, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Friday, September 29.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

YARMOUTH COUNTY: Route 308, Quinan

Route 308, from Bill White Road easterly for about 2.9 kilometres, has alternating lane closures for paving until September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

YARMOUTH COUNTY: Route 308, Sluice Point

Route 308, from Indian Sluice Bridge to the wharf on Morris Island, is reduced to one lane for road repairs until October 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
