The Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team, the SkyHawks will perform at 12 Wing Shearwater on August 23

The Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team, the SkyHawks, will parachute onto the 12 Wing Shearwater sports field on Wednesday, August 23 at 7 p.m. Members of public are invited to witness the free performance which will showcase the high standard of professionalism, teamwork, and physical fitness it takes to be part of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The SkyHawks’ thrilling performance of daring manoeuvres will see an airplane fly parachutists for a total of three passes. The parachutists will be in proximity to each other, a discipline known as Canopy Relative Work in the skydiving community and will be flying flags and releasing colourful smoke as they descend. Jumps will be performed at a maximum altitude of 6,000 feet and are subject to careful planning and close monitoring for everyone’s safety. The performance will only take place under favorable weather conditions, with a rain date of August 24 at 7 p.m. An update will be posted on the Canadian Forces Base Halifax Facebook page on August 23 if the rain date is required.

The public should arrive at least thirty minutes before the performance, with parking available at the Shearwater Fitness & Sports Centre and Shearwater Arena (30 and 66 Boundary Road). The 25-minute performance will be followed by a meet-and-greet with the SkyHawks on-site.
