UPDATE: Two men wanted for attempted murder in Eskasoni are in custody

The two men wanted for an attempted murder in Eskasoni, after an incident on August 2, have been arrested and are in custody.

On August 2, 2023, at approximately 5 a.m., Eskasoni RCMP responded to a report of an assault on Castle Bay Rd. in Eskasoni. RCMP officers learned that a 45-year-old man had been attacked by two men, who are known to him. The men struck the victim with a vehicle, then sprayed him with an irritant, before assaulting him with a baseball bat. The victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Alfred Joseph Marshall, 29, and Justin Noelan Dennis, 42, both of Eskasoni, were both charged with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Uttering Threats and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon. RCMP officers attempted to locate both Marshall and Dennis to arrest them in relation to this incident.

On August 8, 2023, Dennis was located in Tobique First Nation in New Brunswick and was safely arrested by RCMP officers. Dennis was remanded into custody and, Eskasoni RCMP officers are currently on route to Shediac, New Brunswick to take custody of him. Dennis will be returned to Nova Scotia and will appear in Sydney Provincial Court on August 11, 2023.

Later in the day on August 8, Marshall turned himself in at the Eskasoni RCMP Detachment and was safely arrested. Marshall appeared in Sydney Provincial Court yesterday and was remanded into custody. He will return to Sydney Provincial Court on August 11, 2023.
