RAINFALL Warning in Effect
Rain, at times heavy, is expected.
Total rainfall: 40 to 70 mm, locally higher amounts possible.
Locations: Atlantic coast of mainland Nova Scotia.
Time span: this morning until Saturday evening for southwestern regions, overnight tonight until Sunday evening for eastern regions.
Similar storms in the past have caused hazardous driving conditions, elevated river levels, and localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas.
Remarks: While the rain could be intermittent throughout this period, the tropical nature of the moisture feeding this system could give heavy downpours and locally higher amounts of rain.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
