Road Construction – Duke Street

Location: Duke Street from Brunswick Street to Upper Water Street

Date: Friday, July 14

Time: 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: The work is for pavement maintenance. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Brunswick Street

Location: Brunswick Street from Cogswell Street to Cornwallis Street

Date: Monday, July 24 to Saturday, July 29

Time: 7 a.m. on Monday to 7 p.m. on Saturday

Work details: This work is to support the installation of a new storm main. This work is in support of the Cogswell District project.

Traffic impact: Residents will be directed through the work zone by traffic control personnel.

Brunswick Street from Cogswell Street to Cornwallis Street will be closed to local access only. All access will be restricted along Brunswick Street between Proctor Street and Portland Place.

Local traffic only will be permitted to access the TradeMart and Cunard Court parkades through the Cogswell and Brunswick intersection. Access to properties north of Portland Place will be maintained from Portland Place and Cornwallis Street. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes.

Cyclists will be required to share the road with vehicular traffic.

Date: Thursday, July 13

Time: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Traffic Delay – Terminal Road

Location: Terminal Road from Hollis Street to Lower Water Street

Date and Time: Thursday, July 13 to Friday, August 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Work will take place on weekdays only.

Work details: This work is related to the installation of the Hollis Street protected bicycle lane, phase 2, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: During this work there will be lane drops in place with occasional stop-and-go traffic while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Brunswick Street

Location: Brunswick Street, between Carmichael and Prince streets

Date: Saturday, July 15

Time: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Work details: The municipality will be re-painting the words “Black Lives Matter” to support the Black Lives Matter movement. The art will be re-painted by contractors hired by the municipality. To learn more about how the municipality is addressing anti-Black racism, please visit our website.

Traffic impact: A marked detour will be in place. Sidewalks and bike lanes will remain open. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Broadholme Lane 

Location: Broadholme Lane, at the intersection with Kearney Lake Road

Date: Thursday, July 13 until Friday, August 11

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (weekdays only)

Work details: This work is related to traffic signals. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Traffic signals will be occasionally shut down during this work and stop-and-go traffic will be in place on Kearney Lake Road. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct traffic and pedestrians. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Jam Lane

Location: Jam Lane between Brookline Drive and Broad Street

Date: Monday, July 17 to Wednesday, July 19

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is to install a natural gas pipeline.

Traffic impact: One lane will be maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays.

Location: Susie Lake Crescent, from Chain Lake Drive to Horseshoe Lake Drive

Date: Wednesday, July 12

Time: 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Larry Uteck Boulevard, Brookline Drive (north) and Broad Street (north).

Traffic impact: Altered centerlines and short-term lane reductions may be required at times. Motorists should expect delays.

NEW WORK

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford/Lower Sackville

There will be closures in the area Saturday, July 8, and Sunday, July 9, from 5 a.m. to noon:
— Highway 102 northbound between the Exit 4C on- and off-ramps
— Duke Street, westbound, from Damascus Road to Highway 102
— Glendale Avenue, eastbound, from the Highway 102 southbound on-ramp to the Highway 102 northbound on-ramp.

These closures are to complete the second two-girder erections for the Highway 102/Highway 107 overpass.

Traffic control will be on-site.

PICTOU COUNTY:  Brookville Road, Brookville

Brookville Road is closed at Brook Road for bridge repairs until August 1.

A detour is in place.

CONTINUING WORK

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Route 245, Maryvale

Route 245, at the Old Maryvale Road intersection, will be open to local traffic only for replacement of three culverts. Work is expected to continue until July 21.

A detour is in place.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Salt Springs Brook Bridge, Trunk 7

Salt Springs Brook Bridge on Trunk 7, about four kilometres south of the Town of Antigonish, is reduced to one lane until further notice for repairs.

Temporary traffic signals will be in place.

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 105, North Sydney

The intersection of Highway 105 and Tobin Road is reduced to one lane for roadwork until July 31.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Donaldson Bridge, French River

Donaldson Bridge on Lake Road, about three kilometres west of Tatamagouche, is closed until further notice.

The detours are on Trout Brook Road and Cooper Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

Salmon River Bridge, on Highway 102 between exits 14 and 14A, is reduced to one lane northbound until October, due to work on the bridge decking.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Fountain Road, South Middleboro

Fountain Road, between Hunter Road and Simmonds Road, is closed for removal and replacement of the Howard Bridge until October 31.

Traffic will be detoured from Fountain Road via Simmonds Road and Keers Mill Road. Vehicles more than four metres wide need to plan an alternate route due to the width of structures on the detour route.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp is closed until September.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

RICHMOND COUNTY: West Bay Road, Port Hawkesbury

West Bay Road, from Nature Dream Boulevard, easterly for 3.8 kilometres, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until September 30.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105, South Haven

Highway 105, from 3.2 kilometres west of Trunk 30, easterly to 600 metres east of Route 312, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until July 14.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
