Halifax Common Aquatics Facility opens July 6
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the Halifax Common Aquatics Facility will open for public use on Thursday, July 6 at 1 p.m.
The facility includes:
- a 13,500 square foot pool with capacity for 300 swimmers
- a barrier-free lift to allow safe access for users of all abilities
- roped-off swimming lanes for lap swimmers and aquatic climbing walls
- a water plaza
- The water plaza features interactive inground fountain sprays with lighting and sequencing that will provide a multi-sensory and interactive play experience for people of all ages. The water plaza will be surrounded with new park development with tables, seating, and benches under a grove of shade trees.
- a multi-purpose room
- The multi-purpose room includes a kitchenette and will operate year-round with a capacity for up to 75 people. The multi-purpose room can be booked for a range of events, such as live music, community celebrations, meetings, or recreation programming.
- a modular stage
- universal washrooms and change rooms
- public washrooms open to all park users
Swim times can be found on our website. Access to the facility is free and on a first-come, first-served basis.
This project offers a significant enhancement for urban aquatics, recreational play, entertainment and is an outdoor oasis for residents to enjoy.

Note: The design-build developer, MARCO, is hosting a private swim on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 5 as a thank you for employees who worked on the facility. This event is closed to the public.
