Select Bose Acoustimass®, Lifestyle® and Companion™ Bass Modules recalled due to Fire Hazard

Issue

The bass module’s electrical components can fail, posing a fire hazard.

 

As of June 14, 2023, the company has received 21 reports globally of the bass modules igniting or melting including 3 reports of property damage, no injuries have been reported. Of the 21 reports received globally, Bose is aware that 17 of the reported incidents occurred in the United States.

Bose has no indication that any of these incidents occurred in Canada or Mexico or involved Canadian or Mexican consumers.

Affected products

This voluntary recall involves select Bose Acoustimass®, Lifestyle® and Companion™ Bass Modules by Bose sold with select home theater systems.

The bass modules are black or white. The Bose logo is displayed on the product label, which is located either on the back or bottom of the bass module.

The product name and serial numbers can be found on the product label.  The product name will appear at the top of the label, next to the Bose logo.

The serial number is described as “SER. NO.”  Find digits 8 through 11 of the serial number.  These four digits represent the product date code.

If the product name and date code are listed below, the product is part of this recall.  You can also determine whether your bass module is being recalled by going to support.bose.com/am-recall.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled modules, unplug them and contact Bose to arrange for a free repair or a discount on a replacement product.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
