Nova Scotia RCMP, Halifax Regional Police and Bridgewater Police Service investigating power substation break-ins
The Nova Scotia RCMP, Halifax Regional Police and Bridgewater Police Service are investigating multiple break-ins to power substations across Nova Scotia over the last 6 weeks.
On May 12, 2023, Kings District RCMP responded to a report of a power substation, on Meadowvale Rd. in East Tremont, having been broken into overnight. RCMP officers learned that the lock to the substation was cut and, that work vehicles had been broken into. During the break-in, industrial tools and copper wire was stolen.
On May 15, Kings District RCMP responded to a report of a power substation, on White Rock Rd. in White Rock, having been broken into over the weekend. RCMP officers learned that similarly to the break-in in East Tremont, the lock was cut and work vehicles were broken into, resulting in the theft of industrial tools and copper wire.
On May 17, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a power substation, on Windmill Rd. in Dartmouth, having been broken into overnight. HRP officers learned that multiple locks were cut on the building and copper was stolen. A black pickup truck was seen in the area by witnesses.
On May 23, Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a power substation, on Waverley Rd. in Waverley, having been broken into overnight. RCMP officers learned that multiple locks on the property had been cut and copper wire had been stolen.
On May 31 and June 1, Halifax District RCMP responded to reports of break-ins to a power substation, on Brushy Hill Rd. in Upper Sackville. The substation was broken into on each night and witnesses observed a black pickup truck in the area at the time. During the thefts copper wire was stolen.
On June 1, Halifax District RCMP responded to another report of a break-in at a power substation, on Hwy. 7 in Westphal, that occurred overnight. A black pickup truck was again observed in the area and, industrial tools and copper wire were stolen.
Also on June 1, Pictou County District RCMP responded to a report of a break-in to a power substation on, Cove Rd. in Mount Thom. The substation was broken into shortly after 2 a.m., and a white Dodge Charger was observed to be involved. During the theft, copper wire was stolen.
On June 3, the Bridgewater Police Service responded to a report of a break-in at a power substation, on King St. in Bridgewater. BPS officers learned that a black Chevrolet pickup truck had been observed fleeing the area at the time of the break-in. A lock to the compound was cut and copper wire was stolen.
On June 19, Annapolis District RCMP responded to a report of a break-in to a power substation on Brickyard Rd. in Carleton Corner. The substation was broken into over the weekend and during the break-in, copper wire and industrial tools, were stolen.
On June 24, Digby RCMP responded to a report of a break-in to a power substation on Pulp Mill Rd. in Weymouth. During the break-in, copper wire and industrial tools were stolen.

Halifax Regional Police and partner agencies investigating power substation break-ins
Halifax Regional Police, along with partners Nova Scotia RCMP and Bridgewater Police Service, are investigating break-ins to power substations over the last 6 weeks and ask anyone with information to come forward.
On May 17, 2023, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a power substation on Windmill Rd. in Dartmouth, having been broken into overnight. HRP officers learned that multiple locks were cut on the building and copper was stolen. A black pickup truck was seen in the area by witnesses.
