Musicians & Fans Raise over $27,000 for Nova Scotia Wildfire Relief
In response to the devastating wildfires that swept through Nova Scotia, a group of talented musicians and passionate fans rallied together to raise over $27,000 for wildfire relief efforts. With two levels of government dollar matching for Red Cross donations that means over $81,000 for those affected. The initiative, spearheaded by singer-songwriters Robert Campbell and Maurice Aucoin, brought together the power of music and community to support those affected by the natural disaster.
The wildfires, which ravaged vast areas of Nova Scotia, caused widespread destruction, displacing families, and leaving a significant impact on local communities. With a deep sense of empathy and a desire to make a difference, Robert and Maurice took the lead in organising a fundraising campaign culminating in an all day live streamed concert that would harness the collective strength of musicians and fans alike.
Over 70 musicians performed on the Monte’s Showbar stage in a star-studded award winning line-up of artists that saw the likes of: Sam Moon, John Campbelljohn, Shirley Jackson & Her Good Rockin Daddy’s, Asif Illyas, Lisa Richard, Joe Murphy, to name just a few..
Robert Campbell, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response, stating, “Music has a unique ability to bring people together, to heal, and to inspire. I am humbled by the support shown by fellow musicians and all the folks who helped make this happen. This is a true testament to the strength of our musical community and Nova Scotia at large.”
Maurice Aucoin, emphasised the importance of collective action in times of crisis. He said, “When faced with adversity, it is crucial that we stand together and support one another. The response to this fundraising campaign has been nothing short of extraordinary. It is heartwarming to witness the resilience and compassion of our community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the wildfire relief efforts.”
All of the money raised through this remarkable effort goes to the Canadian Red Cross Wildfire Relief fund assisting wildfire victims here in Nova Scotia, to aid in their recovery and providing ongoing support to affected communities. The impact of this collective generosity will be felt for years to come as the affected regions work towards rebuilding and restoring what was lost.
