Rainfall warning in effect

A long episode of rain, at times heavy, continues.

Total rainfall: 60 to 90 mm.

Locations: Halifax county and Guysborough county.

Time span: continuing until Tuesday evening.

Remarks: Localized downpours with rainfall rates of 10 to 15 mm/h are possible. Similar storms in the past have caused hazardous driving conditions and elevated river levels.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
