Police charge man and woman in relation to search

Police have charged a man and a woman after a search of a residence in Halifax last night.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. members of the Quick Response Unit conducted a traffic stop on Bell Road in relation to an ongoing investigation. Officers arrested a man and woman inside the vehicle without incident.

A short time later, Quick Response Unit members, along with investigators in the Liquor Enforcement Section, conducted a search of a residence on Cogswell Street in Halifax. Investigators seized a quantity of cocaine, fentanyl, a prohibited weapon and a quantity of cash.

A 37-year-old man was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face the following charges:

  • Possession of a weapon contrary to order
  • Failing to comply with a probation order
  • Failing to comply with a release order (x3)
  • Failing to appear in court (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing it is unauthorized

He will also appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A 34-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized
