Chief Ken Stuebing and Deputy Chief Dave Meldrum presented Captain Annette Thompson with a shadowbox created in memory of Newt.
Newt was intuitive, reliable and remarkably intelligent, serving as a therapy support dog to HRFE crew, and members of the public. She represented the organization at countless volunteer events with Captain Thompson for 9.5 years.
Newt’s service as a therapy dog, coupled with Captain Thompson’s talented handling set the bar high, as they consistently demonstrated the immense value that therapy service dogs can provide to the emergency services field.
