Look whoooo’s improved!
The great horned owl with the bad eye has moved to the final stage of rehab! He’s now in a large outdoor unit so he can stretch his wings and practice flying again.
He came to us in December with the inability to see out of his left eye due to a severe infection, and it’s been a long journey of healing. He’s doing very well and we are hopeful for a release soon.
We bet he’s happy to see the sun again with both eyes!
Fun fact: Great horned owls are homebodies and normally do not move far from the area in which they were born. Over 90 percent of nestlings that have been banded and later recovered moved less than 80 km away.
