**** NSHA Media Release
February is African Heritage Month and we are celebrating the rich contributions that African Nova Scotians and Black Immigrants from the Caribbean and Africa have made in our society despite their ongoing struggle for equity and social justice. It is a time to recognize the strength and resiliency of Black people in Canada, while we reflect on how we can combat discrimination in our communities.
This month, the Nova Scotia Brotherhood will be acknowledging individuals who have positively impacted Nova Scotia. Their passion and positive contributions will be highlighted during a Zoom community platform speaker series. Join us virtually to celebrate Deputy Chief, Corey Beals on February 23, 2023 at 7:00 p.m..
Celebrations are free for the public via Zoom. Please contact Duane Winter, Nova Scotia Health Community Liaison Coordinator, Nova Scotia Brotherhood for details on how to join by reaching out over email at Duane.Winter@nshealth.ca or by phone at 902-240-6131.
