Kings District RCMP charge woman with Attempted Murder
The Kings District RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) has charged a woman with Attempted Murder after a shooting in Greenwood.
On February 19, 2023, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Kings District RCMP and Annapolis District RCMP, responded to a report of a shooting on Greenwood Rd. in Greenwood. RCMP officers learned that a man and a woman had entered a travel trailer, demanded money from the occupant and when the occupant refused, he was shot in the leg. The suspects then fled the scene.
RCMP officers quickly applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg which successfully stopped the bleeding and he was then turned over to EHS, who transported the victim to hospital by ambulance. The victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. RCMP Police Dog Services were called to the scene but were unable to locate the suspects.
As the investigation continued, RCMP officers identified the woman who was involved in the incident. She was located at a home in Clementsport and was safely arrested.
Katrina Daphene Yarn, 36, of Greenwood, has been charged with the following:
- Attempted Murder;
- Robbery;
- Pointing a Firearm;
- Careless Use of a Firearm;
- Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence;
- Discharged with Intent
Yarn has been remanded into custody and will appear in Kentville Provincial Court on February 21, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
Kings District RCMP GIS are continuing to lead the investigation and continue their attempts to identify the man who was also involved in this incident.
