HI, I’m Duke. I am a 2 year old terrier mix boy weighing in at about 10lbs. I came from Texas a couple weeks ago and I’m ready to find my furever family.

On average, it takes 100 shares and 100 likes for a dog to find a home! Please share my story so my forever family will find me!

I am a higher energy pup who really loves to play. I love to play with other dogs big or small. I love to chew on toys and love to chase balls.

I am doing well with the children in my home but I do bark at their friends when they come over. I sometimes like to jump up and nibble gently on your fingers and toes, but my foster mom has been working with me to curve this habit and I am doing much better! I may be suitable for older children because of this.

I am still unsure of new people and take a bit of time to warm up but once I do, give me a quick neck scratch and I am putty in your arms.

Because of my high energy, an active household would be ideal. Someone who can help wear me out by taking me on long walks, or even a run once I learn better leash skills. I don’t have great recall so a leash is a must until I master this. When I have too much energy, I tend to get a bit mischievous and start chewing on things I shouldn’t.

I love to go on long walks, and love to say hello to everyone who goes by. I do okay in the car as well.

When I first arrived, I didn’t like to go potty outside, but in my short time here, I am almost completely housebroken! A little patience and consistency and I’ll be a pro in no time.

I have met a cat, I barked at her, but quickly left her alone to play. I can’t waste my time with that foolishness when there’s so many toys waiting for me to play with them. I don’t know any commands yet, but I love treats – Maybe you could teach me!

I have been left home a few times, I do like to bark a bit but settle eventually. If any food is left out while you are gone, I will find it, even up high. At bedtime, I like to snuggle up behind my foster mom’s legs in the big people bed.

My dream home would have a fur sibling that will play all day with me, someone to take me on long walks and someone who doesn’t mind me snuggling up to them at night. Is that you?

My adoption fee is a $500 donation to the rescue to help save more dogs like me. I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and come with a 6-week trial of pet insurance from PetSecure and have all my doggy papers to come home to you! You can apply for me at https://form.jotform.com/60895241776264

*If you have previously submitted an application for an unknown dog or any dog and you feel that I may be a fit for your family, you can just send my rescuers an email instead of submitting another application. The email address is salcarescue@salcars.ca

*Due to limited resources, only applications that suit my needs will be contacted for a potential adoption trial.

*Although we only adopt to NS, NB and PEI, matches are not based on proximity to the dog but on a best fit for the dog. We do assist as much as possible with travel for the right application within these provinces.
