West Hants District RCMP General Investigation Section charges man with child pornography offences
The West Hants District RCMP General Investigation Section has charged a man with child pornography offences.
In July 2022, West Hants District RCMP received information that a Windsor man was accessing the internet contrary to a lifetime Prohibition Order that prevented him from doing so. The investigation was assigned to the West Hants District RCMP General Investigation Section.
In September 2022, a search warrant was executed at a home on Wentworth Rd. in Windsor. During the search of the residence, RCMP officers seized cellular phones, computers, computer accessories and documents.
Jason Troy Pitts, 47, was safely arrested and transported to the West Hants RCMP Detachment. Pitts was released on conditions, charged with Breaching a Prohibition Order and appeared in Windsor Provincial Court in December 2022.
As the investigation continued, RCMP investigators obtained further search warrants to have the electronic devices that were seized from the home forensically searched by RCMP Digital Forensic Services. During these searches, RCMP officers located a large volume of child pornography.
On February 9, 2023, Pitts was safely arrested for child pornography offences and was held in custody overnight.
Pitts has been charged with:
- Possession of Child Pornography;
- Transmission of Child Pornography;
- Making Child Pornography;
- Accessing Child Pornography;
- Failure to Comply with a Prohibition Order
He’ll appear in Windsor Provincial Court today.
No local children were involved in the commission of these offences and the investigation remains ongoing.
