Total rainfall: 25 to 45 mm.

Locations: all counties along the Atlantic coast from Digby to northern Cape Breton Island.

Time span: this afternoon until Monday evening.

Remarks: Freezing rain or drizzle is forecast to change to rain this afternoon and then persist over the region until late in the day on Monday.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

(ENDED) Freezing rain warning in effect

Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Locations: all of Nova Scotia except for southeastern Cape Breton Island.

Time span: ending this afternoon or evening.

Remarks: Scattered showers or freezing drizzle this morning is expected to intensify through the day with freezing rain developing over much of the province, especially over inland areas and higher terrain.

The freezing rain is forecast to change over to rain this afternoon in the south but persist into the evening hours over northern regions.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
