Weekly Traffic Advisories (Dec 3)

Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

Traffic Delay – Hammonds Plains Road

Location:​ Hammonds Plains Road, between Yankeetown Road and Pockwock Road

Date: Friday, December 9

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details:​ This work is related to culvert work.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network

Traffic impact:​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.​ Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delay – Eastern Passage Parade of Lights

Location: Shore and Main roads

Date: Sunday, December 11

Time:​ 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Details:​ Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate the Eastern Passage Parade of Lights.

Traffic impact:​ Traffic delays are expected as the parade travels through the community. The parade will begin at Fisherman’s Cove, turn left onto Shore Road, left onto Main Road and will finish at the Royal Canadian Legion at 1341 Main Road.

The event will be traffic controlled and escorted by RCMP. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Middle Sackville Christmas Parade

Location: Lakecrest, Rhodora, Rosemary, Arrowhead and Lylewood drives

Date: Saturday, December 10

Time:​ 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Details:​ Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate the Middle Sackville Christmas Parade.

Traffic impact:​ Traffic delays are expected as the parade travels through the community. The parade will begin by travelling south from 569 Lakecrest Drive, turn left onto Rhodora Drive, right onto Rosemary Dive, right onto Arrowhead Drive, right onto Lylewood Drive and finish by turning right onto Lakecrest drive and continue to the end of the route.

The event will be traffic controlled and escorted by the RCMP. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure and Traffic Delay – Windsor Street ramp

Location: Windsor Street ramp, outbound to the MacKay Bridge

Date: Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11

Time: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day

Work details: A temporary ramp closure and lane drop will be in place to facilitate work on the MacKay Bridge.

Traffic impact: On​ Saturday, December 10, a lane drop will be in place for outbound traffic. On Sunday, December 11, a lane drop will be in place for outbound traffic and the southbound exit ramp to Robie Street from the Windsor Street ramp will be closed to all traffic. A signed detour route will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Micmac Boulevard

Location:​ Micmac Boulevard

Date: Thursday, December 8 to Friday, December 23

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details:​ This work is to support underground utility work. Further questions can be directed to Eastward Energy at 902.466.2003.

Traffic impact: One lane closure will be in place and traffic control personnel will be on-site while work is underway. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Beaufort Avenue

Location:​ Beaufort Avenue, from South Street to Inglis Street

Date: Wednesday, December 7 ​ ​

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ​

Road Construction – Hammonds Plains Road

 

Location: Hammonds Plains Road from Nottingham Drive to Stillwater Lane

 

Date: Wednesday, December 7 to Friday, December 9

 

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

 

Work details: This work is related to installation of a guiderail.

 

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Victoria Road

Location: Victoria Road, between Ochterloney and Queen streets

Date: Wednesday, December 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: A road closure will be in place to facilitate underground utility work.

Traffic impact: Victoria Road, between Ochterloney and Queen streets, will be closed while work is underway. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the west side. Traffic control personnel will be on site to direct local traffic through the closure. A signed detour route will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible

Traffic Delay – Portland Street

Location: Portland Street, between Pleasant Street and Prince Albert Road

Date: Tuesday, December 6 to Friday, December 16

Time: Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is to complete roadwork, including asphalt patching.

Traffic impact: Stop and go traffic will be in place. The sidewalk at the north side of Portland Street will remain open, while the sidewalk on the south side will be closed and the bus stop will be temporarily relocated. Motorists can expect slowdowns and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Duffus Street

Location:​ 5676 Duffus Street, in front of civic address 5676

Date: Monday, December 5

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details:​ This work is to support underground utility work. Further questions can be directed to Eastward Energy at 902.466.2003.

Traffic impact: One lane closure will be in place and traffic control personnel will be on-site while work is underway. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Dartmouth ChristkindlMarket Walk/Sing-a-long

Location: Ochterloney Street

Date: Saturday, December 3

Time:​ 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Details:​ Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate the ChristkindlMarket Walk/Sing-a-long.

Traffic impact:​ Traffic delays are expected as the caroling group travels through the community. The group will depart Sullivan’s Pond after the TD Dartmouth Christmas Tree Lighting and walk east on Ochterloney Street to Alderney Landing. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Fall River Lion’s Christmas Parade

Location: Lockview Road, Fall River Road and Highway 2

Date: Sunday, December 4

Time:​ 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Details:​ Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate the Fall River Lion’s Christmas Parade.

Traffic impact:​ Traffic delays are expected as the parade travels through the community. The parade will begin in the parking lot of Lockview High School, turn right onto Lockview Road, left onto Fall River Road, right onto Highway 2, before finishing in the Sobeys parking lot.

The event will be traffic controlled and escorted by Halifax Regional Police. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Intersection of Richmond Street and Barrington Street

Date: Saturday, December 3, 2022

Time: 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Work details: This work is for valve maintenance and service of the natural gas main.

Traffic Impact: Stop and go traffic will be in place at this intersection. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Barrington Street under MacKay Bridge

Date: Saturday, December 3

Time: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place directly underneath the MacKay Bridge to facilitate paving work.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes where possible.

CONTINUING WORK

ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Brickton Bridge, Brickton

Brickton Bridge on Mount Hanley Road will be closed for repairs until Friday, December 16.

A detour is in place.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbound lane about one kilometre west of James River Interchange, Exit 30, is reduced to one lane for about one kilometre.

Twinning work continues until 2023.

Signs are in place and drivers are encouraged to use caution.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Burnett Bridge, Pine Grove

Burnett Bridge, over McLean Brook on Route 224 in Pine Grove, is closed until Thursday, December 15.

Detour signs and a 30-tonne weight restriction are in place. All other trucks are to follow the posted truck route. The detour is via Saint Andrews River Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Apple River Bridge

Apple River Bridge, on Shulie Road between Advocate and Joggins, is closed until further notice due to structural damage.

Signs and detour are in place.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Street), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Street traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.

The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will remain in place until Friday, December 9.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford/Lower Sackville

Highway 102, from Exit 4A to Exit 4C, will have lane reductions and intermittent road closures on the northbound and southbound highway for the construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 Interchange.

Highway 102 northbound and southbound, Highway 101, Bedford Highway, Bedford Bypass, Duke Street, Glendale Avenue and Sackville Drive will have intermittent road closures for blasting until June 30, 2023.

Traffic control will be on-site. Road closures for blasting will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Lane reductions will occur from sunrise to sunset Monday to Thursday and from sunrise to noon on Friday.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp will be closed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: East River West Side Road, Eureka

The section between 6280 East River West Side Road and Churchville Road is closed until December 15, for the replacement of the Eureka Mills Bridge.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: Westville Road, New Glasgow

Westville Road at Highway 104 is closed nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work continues until Thursday, December 8. A detour will be in place and drivers should proceed with caution.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105

Highway 105, from 3.2 kilometres west of Trunk 30 easterly to 600 metres east of Route 312, is reduced to one lane for road work until Friday, December 16.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Seal Island Bridge
Seal Island Bridge is reduced to one lane for inspections until Thursday, December 8.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Trunk 30, Tarbotvale

Trunk 30, from 500 metres west of Route 312, is reduced to one lane until Tuesday, December 20, for replacement of a retaining wall.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
